METHODOLOGY

Comfort and immersion create a range

The calculator uses screen diagonal and an approximate horizontal field of view. The farther limit is close to 30°, comfortable for mixed viewing. The nearer limit approaches 40°, which is more immersive for movies and games. The primary result uses a balanced 36° point.

The result maps to common retail sizes, but furniture, walkways, mounting height, and personal preference should also influence the final choice.
